Membership
Membership
Rotary International is the association of Rotary Clubs around the world. Each new member is assigned a ‘Classification’ based on his or her business or profession. This system ensures that the club’s membership reflects the business and professional composition of its community. The number of members holding a particular classification is limited according to the size of the club. The goal is professional diversity, which enlivens the club’s social atmosphere and provides a rich resource of occupational expertise to carry out service projects and provide club leadership
Membership Requirements
Attending weekly club meetings allows members to enjoy their club’s fellowship, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, and meet other business leaders in their community. Participation in weekly meetings and club projects is the key to your enjoyment – “the more you put in, the more you get out”.
The expectation is that Fargo West Rotarians attend 60% of the weekly meetings to remain in good standing. With busy schedules, this can sometimes be difficult. One of the benefits of Rotary is the ability to ‘make up’ a meeting by participating in club projects, visiting another Fargo-Moorhead Rotary club or visiting another Rotary club in the region or around the world.
How do I Join Fargo West Rotary?
Email fargowestrotary@gmail.com for more information or speak to any Fargo West Rotarian and then come a Rotary meeting as our guest. Next, a Rotarian will submit your name to the classification committee which will decide which type of business your represent.
Your name will be published for membership in Fargo West Rotary and if approved, a member of the Membership Committee will call you to arrange a date for your orientation and induction.
Dues and Initiation Fee
Fargo West Rotarians pay $140 for dues each quarter which pays for your lunch at the Holiday Inn each Monday as well as your dues to Rotary International & Rotary District 5580. There is a one-time initiation fee of $60 which includes $10 for your Rotary badge and $50 for the Rotary Foundation, which is matched by Fargo West Rotary, automatically making you a ‘Paul Harris Sustaining Member’.
